Who Can Apply for a Temporary Resident Visa from Inside Canada:
You can apply for a TRV (Temporary Resident Visa) from within Canada if you meet the following criteria:
You are already in Canada.
You hold a valid study or work permit.
You want to leave and return to Canada soon.
You have an existing TRV that is either expired, about to expire, or was valid for only a single entry.
If You Have Already Left Canada and Need a New TRV:
You must follow the process to apply for a visa from outside Canada instead of applying from within Canada.
When to Apply for a TRV (Inside Canada):
Apply at least 2 months before you plan to leave Canada.
Do not leave Canada until you receive your visitor visa.
If You Leave Canada Before Getting Your New TRV:
You may face:
Additional requirements (such as biometrics or a medical exam).
Longer processing time.
A delay in returning to Canada.
You can only return once you have received your new visitor visa.
If You Must Leave Canada for Exceptional Reasons:
Complete a web form before you leave.

If You Applied Online to Extend Your Work or Study Permit:
Once your application to extend your work or study permit is approved, you can apply for your visitor visa. You’ll need to provide proof of approval, such as:
A screenshot of the approval message.
Your application number.
Any other document confirming your permit extension.
