Saskatchewan Experience – Students

This sub-category is for students who:

• Have graduated from a recognized post-secondary institution in Canada.
• Want to apply for nomination through the Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP).
• Intend to live in Saskatchewan as a permanent resident. Note: All nominees with temporary work permits must reside in Saskatchewan.
• Meet the criteria of the sub-category. The criteria may change at any time, but the SINP will apply the criteria listed on the website when your application is received.

Students may also apply to other SINP categories if they meet the specific criteria.

Students Who Have Graduated from a Saskatchewan Institute:

You may qualify for this sub-category if:

• You have graduated from a recognized post-secondary institution in Saskatchewan with:
  • A certificate,
  • A diploma,
  • A degree.
• You have worked for at least 6 months (or 780 hours) of paid employment in Saskatchewan. Eligible types of work experience include:
  • On-campus,
  • Off-campus,
  • Co-op terms,
  • Graduate fellowships that can be verified by your institution,
  • Work experience gained on a post-graduation work permit.
• You currently hold a valid post-graduation work permit or an Open Work Permit issued under the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET) from Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
• You have a permanent, full-time job offer in your field of study from an approved Saskatchewan employer. The job should be:
  • In an occupation in the National Occupation Classification (NOC) TEER level “0”, “1”, “2”, or “3”; or in a designated trade.
  • Related to your field of study and requires post-secondary education.
• You have a valid SINP Job Approval Letter. Employers must register with the SINP and obtain the Job Approval Letter. They will then provide it to you if you meet their hiring qualifications.
• You have a minimum language score of Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 4 if your job offer is in a designated trade occupation (NOC TEER level “4” or “5”).

Students Who Have Graduated from an Institution in Canada (Outside Saskatchewan):

You may qualify if:

• You have graduated from a program equivalent to at least one academic year (8 months) of full-time study from a recognized post-secondary institution in Canada (outside of Saskatchewan) with:
  • A certificate,
  • A diploma,
  • A degree.
• You currently hold a valid post-graduation work permit or an Open Work Permit issued under CUAET from IRCC.
• You have worked for at least 6 consecutive months (minimum 780 hours) of paid employment in Saskatchewan after graduation, in a job related to your field of study. Eligible work experience includes work gained on a post-graduation work permit.
• You have a permanent, full-time job offer in your field of study from a Saskatchewan employer. The job should be:
  • In an occupation in the National Occupation Classification (NOC) TEER level “0”, “1”, “2”, or “3”; or in a designated trade.
  • Related to your field of study and requires post-secondary education.
• You have a valid SINP Job Approval Letter.
• You have a minimum language score of Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 4 if your job offer is in a designated trade occupation (NOC TEER level “4” or “5”).

Important Note: The federal government sets the number of nominations the SINP can make each year. The SINP accepts a maximum number of applications each year. No application is guaranteed to be accepted.

Who Cannot Apply Through the Student Category:

The following individuals cannot apply:

• Refugee claimants in Canada who are seeking refugee status from the Government of Canada.
• International students who have not completed their program of study.

You may not be eligible if:

• You did not provide the required documents when submitting your application.
• You were unable to prove that you plan to live and work in Saskatchewan.
• You or your representative intentionally misrepresented information in the application.

Required Documents for Students Stream with Saskatchewan Experience Class

The following documents are required for your application:

1.Temporary Work Permit: You must submit a copy of your valid work permit issued by the federal government. This can include:

• Post-Graduate Work Permit (PGWP)
• Open Work Permit issued under the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET)
• Ensure that the work permit is current and valid at the time of submission.

2. Work Experience Credentials

Saskatchewan Graduate: You must have worked for a minimum of six (6) months (or 780 hours) of paid employment in Saskatchewan. The work experience does not need to be full-time or consecutive work experience. Eligible types of work experience include:

• On-campus
• Off-campus
• Co-op terms
• Graduate fellowships that can be verified by your institution
• Work experience gained on a post-graduate work permit

You must submit:

• A letter from your employer(s) indicating your job position, start date, length of employment, main duties, and the number of hours you worked each week (if the position was not full-time).
• Copies of your paystubs that show the employer’s name, your position, and the hours worked.
• A record of employment.

Canada Graduate – Outside of Saskatchewan: You must be currently working in Saskatchewan and have worked for at least six (6) months (780 hours) of full-time (30+ hours per week) work. The work experience must be consecutive work experience and related to your field of study.

You must submit:

• A letter from your employer(s) indicating your job position, start date, length of employment, main duties, and the number of hours you worked each week (if the position was not full-time).
• Copies of your receipt

3. Job Offer Requirements

You must have an offer letter for a full-time, permanent job from a Saskatchewan employer in a NOC TEER level “0,” “1,” “2,” or “3” occupation or a designated trade. The job offer must be related to the field of study you completed in Saskatchewan or Canada. The position must offer pay and working conditions that match Canadian standards.

The Letter of Offer must:

• Be addressed to the principal applicant.
• State the job title, duties, wage, benefits, and company contact information.
• Specify the location of your job.
• Be issued on the company’s letterhead.
• Be signed by the employer.

Job Approval: Your job offer must be approved by the SINP before you apply. If it is not approved, your application will be rejected.

Employer’s Registration:

• Your employer must register online to have the position assessed by the SINP.
• Once the position is approved, your employer will receive a Job Approval Letter that includes your position, name, and NOC code.

Submission: You must send a copy of the SINP Job Approval Letter with your application.

4. Language Credentials: If your job offer is in a TEER level “4” or “5” designated trade occupation, you are required to provide valid language test results from a designated testing agency.

Language Requirements:

• You must have English or French language ability of at least Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 4 or higher.
• Your language test results must not be more than two years old at the time of application.

5. Education Credentials

You must provide documents to verify your educational qualifications, including:

• Education/Trade Certificates
• Degrees
• Diplomas

Additionally, include official transcripts that show:

• The school(s) you attended
• The courses you took during your education

These documents are necessary to confirm that your education meets the requirements for the SINP application.

5. Identity and Civil Status Documents: To confirm your identity and civil status, you need to submit the following documents:

• Birth Certificates for: Principal applicant, spouse/partner (if applicable), each accompanying dependent, and non-accompanying children born in Canada (if applicable).
• If married, Marriage Certificate and Death Certificate of former spouse (if applicable).
• For Common-Law Relationship: IMM 5409 Declaration of Common-Law Union and Proof of at least one year of cohabitation (e.g., joint bank account, signed lease/mortgage, jointly owned property, joint bills, life insurance beneficiary).
• For Divorce: Final divorce documents and Custody and child support documents (if dependents are not accompanying).
• For Legal Separation: Marriage certificate, Notarized proof of separation (country-specific), Custody and child support documents (if dependents are not accompanying).
• Adoption papers (if applicable).

6. Passports: Provide a valid passport with copies of the following pages for the principal applicant, spouse/partner (if applicable), and all accompanying dependent children: passport number, date of issue and expiry, photo, name and place of birth, and if applicable, a visa for a country where you reside but do not hold nationality.
7. Proof of Residency (if applicable): Proof of residency in Saskatchewan can include a Saskatchewan Health Card, Saskatchewan driver’s license, or other ID issued by SGI.

Note: The SINP may request additional documents if needed.

8. Credentials (if applicable): If your occupation is regulated in Saskatchewan, provide proof from the regulatory body confirming that your credentials are recognized and you are licensed to work, or a letter confirming that an application for registration has been submitted.
