Sponsor Your Spouse, Partner, or Dependent Children

  • Bring your spouse, common-law partner, or dependent children to Canada as permanent residents. Eligibility Requirements:
  • Age Requirement: You must be at least 18 years old.
  • Residency Status: You need to be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or a person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act.
  • Residency Plans: If you are a Canadian citizen living outside Canada, you must intend to live in Canada once the individuals you sponsor become permanent residents. Note that if you are a permanent resident, you are ineligible to sponsor someone if you live outside Canada.
  • Financial Stability: You must demonstrate that you do not receive social assistance for reasons other than a disability, and that you can provide for the basic needs of the individuals you wish to sponsor.

Sponsor Your Adopted Child

This program facilitates the permanent residency of adopted children, allowing them to settle in Canada with their families.

Provinces and territories manage adoptions within Canada. Scope Immigration can guide you through determining your eligibility to adopt and understanding the requirements you need to meet. Initially, familiarize yourself with the information provided here to set your expectations accurately.

  • You can initiate the sponsorship process for your child once:
  • The adoption process is underway, and
  • You have received one of the following from your province or territory:
  • Letter of Agreement
  • Letter of No Objection
  • Letter of No Involvement
  • Following this, Scope Immigration can assist you in applying for a permanent resident visa for your child to enter Canada.
  • If your adoption involves the immigration process, Scope Immigration can also help you apply for your child’s citizenship once they:
  • Arrive in Canada, and
  • Obtain permanent resident status

Sponsor Your Relatives

This option enables the sponsorship of eligible relatives to obtain permanent residency in Canada, enhancing family reunification.

  • You may be eligible to sponsor certain relatives to immigrate to Canada under the Family Class if you meet the following criteria:
  • You are at least 18 years old.
  • You are a Canadian citizen, a person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act, or a permanent resident of Canada.
  • As a sponsor, your responsibilities include:
  • Providing financial support to your relative when they arrive in Canada.
  • Ensuring you can meet basic needs for yourself and your relative, such as food, shelter, and clothing.
  • Ensuring that your relative does not need to rely on social assistance.

Sponsor Your Parents and Grandparents

This pathway provides opportunities for sponsoring your parents and grandparents to become permanent residents, enabling family unity across generations in Canada.

Who You Can Sponsor

  • You have the option to sponsor:
  • Your mother and father as a couple.
  • Your father, your stepmother, and their son.
  • Your grandparents, your mother, and your stepfather.

Who You Cannot Sponsor

  • There are restrictions on who you can sponsor, including:
  • Your spouse’s parents and grandparents (your in-laws). However, you may co-sign on your in-laws’ application.
  • Individuals who are inadmissible to Canada, meaning those who are not allowed to enter the country based on specific legal or security reasons.
  • You can sponsor your biological or adopted parents and grandparents to come to Canada under certain conditions:
  • You must receive an invitation to apply.
  • You need to be at least 18 years old.
  • You must reside in Canada.
  • You should be a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident of Canada, or a person registered in Canada as an Indian under the Canadian Indian Act.
  • You must demonstrate financial capability to support the individuals you wish to sponsor. This involves providing proof of income.
  • If necessary, your spouse or common-law partner can co-sign the application to combine incomes.
  • Both you and your parents or grandparents must meet all other eligibility requirements specified under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations.

Each year, the Government of Canada has been giving an opportunity to Canadian citizens and permanent residents to sponsor their parents and grandparents. The sponsor must meet the sponsor’s requirements as mentioned above and also the financial requirement of the minimum necessary income plus 30% for the 3 consecutive years right before the application submission day. The income requirements to sponsor parents/grandparents in 2022 are as follows:
