A Canadian passport is an essential travel document for Canadian citizens. Whether you’re applying for a child’s first passport or renewing an adult passport, it’s crucial to understand the requirements and process.
A Canadian child passport is issued to Canadian citizens under the age of 16. It is valid for a maximum of 5 years and cannot be renewed. Once the child turns 16, they must apply for an adult passport.
Applications can be submitted by:
A parent (if not separated or divorced)
The parent with custody or decision-making responsibilities (if separated or divorced)

All parents or legal guardians must sign the application form. If any are deceased, an original death certificate is required.

Proof of Parentage or Legal Guardianship: Documents such as custody orders or divorce judgments.
Two Identical Passport Photos: One photo must have the photographer’s details and the date the photo was taken.
