Alberta Opportunity Stream
The Alberta Opportunity Stream is for temporary foreign workers:
Already working full-time in Alberta.
Have a full-time job offer from an Alberta employer in an eligible occupation.
Must have a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) or hold an accepted LMIA exemption work permit.
Meet other basic requirements, such as having the right job skills, language abilities, education, work experience, and an Alberta job offer.
Eligible Applicants – At the time of your application submission and when the AAIP assesses your application, you must have a valid work permit (not implied status or restoration status).
You must have one of the following types of work permits:
Open Work Permit issued by IRCC to:
Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) for graduates of an Alberta Advanced Education publicly funded post-secondary institution.
PGWP holders must meet specific occupation, education, and work experience requirements as outlined below.
Open Work Permit issued under one of IRCC’s temporary public policies, except for those that do not confer temporary residence (e.g., refugees, or applicants based on an existing permanent residence application):

If your work permit type is covered by an eligible IRCC temporary public policy that is not listed in the Expression of Interest or application form (if invited), choose ‘Other’ as the work permit type and mention the public policy in the free-text field.

All applicants, including PGWP holders, must have a full-time job offer or employment contract from an Alberta employer to work in their current occupation in Alberta at the time of application submission and when the application is assessed. The job offer or employment contract must:
As of January 1, 2021, at the time of your application submission, you must have completed at least high school education equivalent to Canadian standards.
You are required to provide an Educational Credential Assessment (ECA) from an IRCC-designated organization for your highest level of education.
However, you do not need to submit an ECA if:
– The Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) may request an ECA from or conduct an internal assessment to verify that the candidate meets the minimum Canadian high school equivalent requirement.

Confirm the TEER Category for your occupation in the NOC 2021 and use it to determine your minimum language score.

Approved Language Tests: You must provide official test results from one of the following approved language tests:
Additional Details:
– Official test results must be less than 2 years old when you submit your application. The test date (not the result release date) determines the age of your results.
– Confirmation of registration for a language test is not accepted in place of actual test results.
