post graduate work permit extension

PGWP Extension

The pandemic has hit the whole world execrably. Along with that, it has brought many challenges for international students. For many post-graduate work permit (PGWP) holders, the pandemic unpredictably lessened their chances of acquiring the work experience needed to apply for permanent residency.

On January 8/2021, Reputed, the Minister of Immigration and Citizenship, Marco E. L. Mendicino, announced that international students who hold or held a PGWP will get the opportunity to extend their post-graduate work permit for another 18 months. This would allow them to remain in Canada and continue to seek employment and build their future in this country.

The Government of Canada is making notable efforts to support international students to settle permanently in Canada. They bring strong employment and language skills which are strengthened by their Canadian education and work experience, making them typically eligible for applying permanent residency status. It will help more former international students build their futures in Canada.
