The Honourable Minister, Marco E.L. Mendicino has made a great announcement on July 15, 2021, for applicants who applied under TR to PR pathway. All applicants who submitted their applications for permanent residence under the new pathway will be eligible for a one-time open work permit. To qualify for a work permit, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Submitted an application under TR to PR pathway program
- Held a valid work permit or were authorized to work at the time their application was submitted
- Hold a work permit that will expire within the next 4 months
- Hold a temporary resident status, maintained status, or eligible to restore their status.
- Were employed and in Canada during the application submission time
- Meet the language requirement of the PR stream.
