Immigration, Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has been providing faster processing to student visa applications for eligible students since 2018 through Student Direct Stream (SDS). However, it was limited to applicants from 7 countries only (China, India, Morocco, Pakistan, Philippines, Senegal, and Vietnam.
On July 9, 2021, IRCC has expanded the SDS to applicants from Antigua and Barbuda, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Peru, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, and Trinidad and Tobago. International students from these 14 countries can get benefit from SDS by getting the student visa application processed within 3 weeks if the requirements are met.
