post graduate work permit canada

Great News for International students

Immigration Canada has been taking proactive steps to help international students who are getting affected by this pandemic. Today, honorable Minister of IRCC, Marco E.L. Mendicino announced that international students will be eligible for a Post-graduation work permit (PGWP) despite they complete their entire study online by staying abroad.

Immigration Canada initially released the statement on August 26, 2020, regarding PGWP for students who are studying online from abroad. However, many international students would have missed the opportunity to obtain a post-graduation work permit due to some requirements such as study online from abroad until April 30, 2012,  completing at least 50% of their study in Canada, or students enrolled in 8-12 months program with a start date from May to September 2020 are eligible for PGWP.

International students must meet the other requirements for PGWP such as at least 8 months of full-time study at DLI, must apply within 180 days of receiving final marks, has valid status in Canada/eligible for status restoration, etc.
