Immigration Canada has extended the public policy for visitors to apply for work permits within Canada. On August 24, 2020, IRCC announced the public policy that has allowed visitors to receive work permits without leaving Canada. However, this policy was valid until March 31, 2021.
Today, on March 29, 2021, Immigration Canada has extended this public policy for another five months. This means visitors with a valid status in Canada will be able to get a work permit without leaving Canada until August 31, 2021. Furthermore, temporary foreign workers with a valid work permit within the last 12 months, can also benefit from this policy by start working immediately while waiting for their new work permit application’s decision.
