However, people from visa exempt countries also require Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) before they can fly to Canada.
Apply Visitor Visa
IRCC officers assess many factors before issuing a temporary resident visa to a foreign national. Therefore, applicant must meet some basic requirements to get positive results. These requirements are:
- A valid travel document
- No criminal background
- Sufficient funds to cover all expenses during the visit
- Must leave Canada by the end of authorized period
- Proof of strong ties with home country or country of residence
A Temporary resident visa may be granted for maximum 10 years or until applicant’s passport expiry date. However, foreign nationals can only stay for maximum 6 consecutive months in Canada unless they get an extension on their authorized stay.
Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA): Foreign nationals from visa exempt countries (Except US Citizens) require eTA if they are travelling to Canada by air or want to transit through Canada. These individuals do not need eTA if they are entering Canada by road, train or ship/boat.
